The Sociology of Knowledge

My primary interest in sociology is the Sociology of Knowledge. I'm interested in how  knowledge is created, legitimized, delegitimized and evolves.  I'm also interested in how knowledge and information is used/created/manipulated by social groups to empower themselves and/or disempower others.  As such I study the Foucaultian perspective, or the theories and studies of philosopher, historian and social critic Michel Foucault (In the banner above, third from the right, holding his head).  It is this perspective that colors most of my lectures and most of my personal research.  So this page is devoted to an elaboration of the field, as well as my own thoughts and discoveries.
